Grand Canyon, take two

Second annual trip to the Grand Canyon!
This is the closest I come to travel photography, I guess.  Mostly I get distracted by the flora and my beautiful friends.

Carolyn + Paul - Engaged - Washington, DC Wedding and Engagement Photographer - Cleveland Park Engagement

When Carolyn, Paul & I picked the date for the engagement session, we were hoping for blooming hyacinths, but instead we hit the cherry. blossom. jackpot. The coup d'etat of DC spring-time!  It was seriously glorious out and Carolyn and Paul were a dream. They had so many ideas - including the mango picnic with Kavalier and Clay (a book they've been reading aloud to each other for ages). They introduced me to an amazing little Cleveland Park courtyard that I can't wait to go back and explore. It was such a nice day. I only wish they'd brought along their pet snake!

A day at the Maine Ave fish market

A few weeks ago I spent a chilly winter day at DC's fish market. On the water in the Southwest quadrant, it's not near anything but federal offices. The regulars and the vendors were highly amused to see a girl with a camera, unconcerned with purchasing any fish. "What is the point of this?" one man asked me.

It's something different, for a girl who grew up land-locked. The colors and shapes.  The energy of the sell.

Markets like this energize me.  I will definitely be back.
