Maternity - Laura and Vinnie

Call me a convert, but pregnant ladies are the loveliest.
My friend Laura is one of those magnetic people who just seeps charm and warmth. But not in the boring way, because she is also big, amazing fun and can certainly (pre-pregnancy) put away a few drinks and stir up some trouble.

I love her. And her husband. He's also the greatest. Great great great.
They're having a little boy. Who will obviously also be the greatest! I know they can't wait to meet him. (I can't either.)

Enough with the gushing, I know, but I had so much fun with this one! I can't believe I was ever nervous.

Vinnie and Laura are the raddest. They were such an amazing pair to watch before they were married. But now that they've tied the knot, and Laura is pregnant, they're going to have the raddest little dude ever. What parents they'll be!

All that is to say: I've got a maternity session this weekend! And it's my first. Laura is going to be the best first pregnant gal a mildly pregnancy-phobic photographer could ask for.

love day

Holly has known me since I was a kid. Since I was twelve years old, if not before. She and my mom have long been pals. And, amazing people that they are, she and her wonderful husband let me live with them for a summer during college when I was desperate for a taste of the real world. They're great people.

And now they have fantastic kids. I got to hang out with Charlotte and Lawson last weekend. We ate salmon and banana bread. Charlotte taught me about outer space, dinosaurs and "love day" (which is the 5th of December, in case you're wondering). It was excellent. There was so much love and goodness in this house.

Sean and Maya are getting married this summer. In Maine. Perfect.

They had the classiest engagement soiree back in October. I was thrilled to be on the guest list and had a marvelous time getting to know some of their friends and socializing at the lovely Darlington House in Dupont Circle.

I somehow didn't get any of the beautiful couple together. I was having too good a time!

My shutter finger was getting itchy, so the Thursday before I left Connecticut we took a drive out to the sound so I could photograph something new. I'd been there before, the summer I was in NYC doing a show -- 5 years ago -- the three of us spent a Saturday walking along the water, my mom picking up shells.
It was very different then.

This time I shot a lot of the boats. They were magnificent on their pedestals, bound and battened down.
